TRICARE is medical health insurance which is offered to individuals in the armed forces of the United States. Substance abuse within the military is much more common than one would imagine, and the need to offer treatment to these individuals is a priority. TRICARE covers numerous rehabilitation services to cope with alcohol and drug dependence such as detox services, and also rehabilitation in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient programs. Those that have TRICARE will of course be required to have a prior approval before partaking in any type of rehab service, that may be organized with their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient program is the favored rehab option, TRICARE covers twenty-one days or one inpatient stay in this program per benefit period which is every 365 days. There are certain limits as to just how long a TRICARE member can remain in an inpatient facility that accepts TRICARE, then there is typically a 30-45 day window that is covered. TRICARE also covers family therapy that may be very useful, as it can certainly help include loved ones in the healing and process of recovery. No person in the military should fight this battle alone, and there are skilled rehab counselors waiting to help you today.
