LGBT means lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are programs which address the particular needs of these clients. Individuals who are LGBT can often feel alone, misunderstood, and considered socially depraved. This is sometimes a very hard or painful way to live, and leads many LGBT people to a life of drug use to numb these feelings. Somebody who is LGBT may not feel at ease in a traditional treatment facility amongst individuals who aren't experiencing the same challenges they may be experiencing within their lives. A LGBT facility offers an environment which can be free of judgment, where LGBT clients can be completely safe and comfortable divulging to their peers and rehabilitation counselors problems which must be resolved in order to get better. Rehabilitation counselors in the LGBT rehab will help clients repair relationships with their family members, in the case their family disagree with their sexual choice as is usually the case. This situation is an extremely frequent trigger for drug abuse, and is an example of something could be resolved in treatment. LGBT clients often would like to be accepted in their lives, and rehab will help them accept themselves and produce confidence so that they can lead a healthy life without any alcohol and drugs.
