A group home for someone who has been involved in drug abuse is a facility which offers continuous support and help for those in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled youth, but there are also group homes for individuals with a mental health disorder or who are encountering behavioral difficulties for example. As opposed to sending individuals who are being affected by substance abuse or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or any other similar place, a group home might help offer an acceptable environment to help individuals sustain stability inside their lives and still have counsel and assistance within reach around the clock. People who reside in the group home may be getting involved in treatment services during residence, or might be taking steps to get their life setup outside of the group home in order to at some time live on their own outside the group home. For example, a troubled youth who has been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can work on getting their GED or obtain employment. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent option, but it is a viable short-term option for those who are attempting to get their lives back together.
