Offering gender-specific rehab services has proven very helpful in situations where traditional rehabilitation facilities have not meet expectations, including dealing with situations within a women's life which are distinctive and distressing. Such concerns may relate to sexual abuse, physical abuse, mental abuse, eating disorders, one's family members and motherhood, or another significant issues which are specific to women. Research shows that women could also become involved in substance abuse more easily than men, and therefore are more predisposed to illness as a consequence of dependency problems than males consequently. Because of obligations in the home, women also tend to postpone looking for and receiving care for addiction, a circumstance which can lead to catastrophe. After this step, counselors help women concentrate on both general and gender-specific issues who have brought about their drug or alcohol use.
