A group home for somebody who has tbeen involved with alcohol and drug abuse is a facility which offers continual support and assistance for those in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled adolescents, but there are also group homes for those with a mental health problem or who are encountering behavioral difficulties for example. As an alternative to sending those who are being affected by drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or another similar place, a group home may help provide an acceptable environment to help individuals sustain stability in their lives and have counsel and assistance at their fingertips 24/7. Residents in the group home could be getting involved in rehabilitation services while in residence, or may be taking actions to get their life set up outside of the group home in order to at one point live independently outside the group home. For example, a troubled youth that has been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or obtain work. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent answer, however it is a feasible short-term option for those who are attempting to get their lives back together.
