Individuals who want to maintain a certain amount of flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab whenever they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the treatment client to participate in rehabilitation services without the commitment one would normally have to agree to within an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation center. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to address significant substance abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient possibility, it isn't for everyone. Those that do decide on an outpatient rehab will generally show up at meetings and be a part of counseling and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or a few days per week. This is helpful for many who have just completed a much more thorough inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or someone with just a short history of substance abuse which is usually a very small amount of clients. For someone with more significant addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities which offer treatment on a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial rehab option.
