TRICARE is health care insurance that is provided to people in the military of the United States. Substance abuse inside the military is much more common than one would think, and the necessity to provide rehabilitation to these individuals is an important priority. TRICARE covers numerous rehab services to cope with drug and alcohol dependence including detox services, along with treatment in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient programs. People with TRICARE will of course have to obtain a prior approval before partaking in any kind of treatment service, which may be arranged with their regional TRICARE representative. If an inpatient program will be the preferred rehab choice, TRICARE will cover a 3 week period or one inpatient stay in that center per benefit period which is every 365 days. There are specific limits regarding how much time a TRICARE member can remain in an inpatient program that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30-45 day window which is covered. TRICARE also covers family therapy which can be very helpful, as it can certainly help include family members in the healing and recovery process. No person in the military should fight this battle alone, and there are skilled rehabilitation counselors ready to assist you today.
