Individuals who would like to maintain a certain amount of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab when they need rehabilitation for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehab client to take part in treatment services with the same commitment one would normally have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation program. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to address significant substance abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient option, it isn't for everyone. People that decide on an outpatient rehab will usually take part in meetings and be a part of counseling and treatment services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or several days weekly. This is helpful for those who have just completed a much more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with only a short history of drug use which is really a very small number of clients. For an individual with more serious addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug treatment facilities which provide rehabilitation on a long-term basis are going to be the more effective rehabilitation option.
