Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehabilitation client to take part in treatment services without the commitment one would normally have to consent to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab center. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to address substantial drug abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient option, it isn't for everybody. People who choose an outpatient rehab will generally take part in meetings and take part in therapy and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or several days each week. This is often helpful for those who have recently completed a much more thorough inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with only a brief history of substance abuse which is usually a very small percentage of clients. For somebody with more serious drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment facilities which offer rehab on a long-term basis are going to be the more beneficial rehab option.
