A group home for somebody who has tbeen involved with drug and alcohol abuse is a facility which offers continual support and assistance for people in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled youth, but in addition there are group homes for those with a mental health problem or who are encountering behavioral problems for example. As an alternative to sending those who are experiencing substance abuse or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar facility, a group home might help offer an acceptable environment to help individuals maintain stability in their lives and still have counsel and support within reach 24/7.
