Individuals who want to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab if they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehab client to participate in rehab services without the commitment you might normally have to consent to within an inpatient or residential drug treatment center. This doesn't always work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to address significant drug abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like an expedient option, it isn't for everyone. Those that do decide on an outpatient rehab will typically take part in meetings and be a part of therapy and rehab services part-time on a daily basis or several days weekly. This is very helpful for many who have just completed an even more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, or someone with just a short history of drug use which is usually a really small percentage of clients. For someone with more severe drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment centers that provide rehabilitation on a long-term basis are going to be the more beneficial treatment choice.
