Individuals who want to maintain some flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab whenever they need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehabilitation client to participate in treatment services with the same commitment one would usually have to agree to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation center. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to solve significant substance abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune possibility, it isn't for everybody. Those who decide on an outpatient rehab will typically show up at meetings and take part in therapy and rehab services on a part-time basis every day or a few days each week. This is helpful for those who have recently completed a much more extensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with only a brief history of drug abuse which is usually a really small amount of clients. For an individual with more significant drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab programs which offer rehab over a long-term basis will probably be the more effective rehabilitation choice.
