Medicare is a form of medical insurance created by the federal government for senior citizens, as well as people who have certain disabilities and diseases. If someone that has Medicare needs rehab for cases of substance abuse, their rehab will either be covered in full by their Medicare health insurance or to a significant extent. The one catch is, the individual must receive treatment coming from a drugs and alcohol detox facility which accepts Medicare. Before the individual will be allowed to begin rehab, they may also have to visit their physician who must state that rehabilitation services are medically needed, and the doctor will typically approve what type of rehabilitation the person will take part in. Medicare Part An and Part B cover a variety of treatment services. Part A covers an inpatient stay in a Medicare accepted program when the individual must be hospitalized for their problem, as well as the costs that they will have to cover personally are identical to any other stay in a hospital. Medicare Part B will partially cover outpatient rehab within a Medicare accepted facility, and the individual will have to cover whatever Part B doesn't cover with supplement insurance coverage or they will have to self pay.
