Criminal justice client rehabs are available like a far better option than incarceration or significant fines for individuals who have already been convicted of any type of alcohol or drug related crime. By way of example, a person who has been in prison for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol may be eligible to obtain treatment services for their problem rather than serving time in prison. The judge could even order that the individual receive rehabilitation, either alone or in addition to other sentencing. First time offenders in particular in many cases are given the opportunity choose a criminal justice client rehab as an alternative to other sentencing, and it is highly recommended they make the most of it if it is a possibility. The concept behind criminal justice client rehabs is it is far more effective and efficient to invest effort and time into rehab than enforcement of other consequences. Much research has been carried out to see how effective this approach is on recidivism rates, i.e. if the criminal justice client returns or not to criminal justice system following treatment. All indicators seem quite positive, and criminal justice clients who do experience treatment have better chance of remaining out of the judicial system after treatment.
