Medicaid is a type of health insurance available for individuals who are in specific income brackets which qualifies them to receive this government provided insurance. Whether someone is qualified for Medicaid doesn't only depend upon income however, and individuals shouldn't assume they don't qualify because they make an acceptable income. For instance, people who have quite a few dependents may be eligible for Medicaid even though they make what would be described as a sensible income. Medicaid may also cover the expenses of treatment, when someone has been abusing drugs or alcohol and needs rehab. There are several alcohol and drug treatment facilities which accept Medicaid, but various states have different guidelines for what types of rehabilitation are covered. Some states only include outpatient treatment services as an example while other states cover more intensive rehab such as a residential stay in long-term alcohol and drug rehab center. If somebody is involved with drug use and needs help, they're able to use their Medicaid health coverage to obtain this treatment. If they do not have Medicaid and also don't have enough cash or another type of health insurance to pay for rehabilitation, they can determine if they qualify for Medicaid and then enroll in a drug rehab program which is approved in their state.
