A group home for anyone who has tbeen involved with drug abuse is a place which provides continuous support and assistance for people in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled adolescents, but in addition there are group homes for those with a mental health disorder or who are encountering behavioral trouble for example. As opposed to sending those who are struggling with substance abuse or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or another similar place, a group home may help offer an acceptable environment to help individuals maintain stability in their lives and have counsel and support at their fingertips around the clock. People who reside within a group home could be getting involved in rehabilitation services while in residence, or could be taking actions to get their life setup outside of the group home so that they can at one point live on their own outside of the group home. As an example, a troubled youth that has been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or obtain employment. A group home is definitely not a long-term or permanent option, but it is a viable short term option for individuals who want to get their lives back together again.
