Individuals who would like to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab whenever they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehab client to participate in rehabilitation services without the commitment one would ordinarily have to consent to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation program. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to address substantial drug abuse issues. So even though an outpatient rehab might appear to be an opportune option, it isn't for everybody. People that do decide on an outpatient rehab will generally take part in meetings and be a part of therapy and treatment services on a part-time basis each day or a few days per week. This is often helpful for individuals who have just completed a more thorough inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, and someone with only a short history of drug use which is really a very small amount of clients. For somebody with more serious drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab centers which offer treatment on a long-term basis will be the more advantageous rehabilitation option.
