A LGBT program offers an environment which is free from judgment, where LGBT clients can be completely safe and comfortable divulging to their peers and rehab counselors problems which have to be handled in order to get well. Rehabilitation counselors in a LGBT rehab will help clients fix relationships with their family members, in the event their family disagree with their sexual choice as is usually the case. This circumstance is an extremely common trigger for drug abuse, and is also a good example of an issue that can be handled in treatment. LGBT clients often simply want to be accepted within their lives, and rehab will help them accept themselves and build confidence so that they can lead a wholesome life without any alcohol and drugs.
