Offering gender-specific rehabilitation services has shown to be very useful in situations where conventional rehabilitation facilities have not meet expectations, for example coping with situations within a women's life which are unique and traumatic. Such concerns may relate to sexual abuse, physical abuse, mental abuse, eating disorders, one's family and motherhood, or other significant issues which can be particular to women. Studies show that women could also become involved in abusing drugs more readily than men, and are more predisposed to sickness as a result of addiction issues than males as a result. Due to responsibilities in their home, women also tend to put off trying to find and receiving treatment, a situation which can be a catalyst for disaster. With this in mind, rehabilitation services for women are designed so that a women's needs will be the concentration and priority. Similar to coed facilities, drug rehabilitation programs that offer rehab solutions to women help women through detoxification and withdrawal as a starting point. After this step, counselors help women concentrate on both common and gender-specific issues who have induced their drug or alcohol use. Women also utilize the positive support from other female peers, and a few facilities which provide treatment services to women also provide client beds for her children.
