Dual diagnosis rehabs are centers which provide treatment to handle both addiction and mental health concerns concurrently. Dual diagnosis is a very common circumstance for people involved in substance abuse, as those that have mental health disorders frequently self medicate with alcohol and drugs to experience some sort of temporary respite from their disorder. In a dual diagnosis rehab, rehab professionals will help people using a comprehensive treatment plan all geared towards restoring and stabilizing mental, emotional and physical health whilst addressing drug abuse issues. Offering a safe and secure environment is key to ensure that dual diagnosis clients can be relaxed and remain undistracted from circumstances which could compromise their program and progress. Rehab counselors will work to recognize environmental factors in the client's life including negative relationships or other things that must be addressed in order for the person to stay mentally stable and sober t after they leave dual diagnosis rehab. Dual diagnosis clients also reap the benefits of behavioral rehabilitation which helps them develop far better coping mechanisms so they are better able to deal with life circumstances more proficiently once they leave dual diagnosis rehab as opposed to returning to drugs as an inferior option.
