Being diagnosed with HIV/AIDS may set off substance abuse, or risky sexual conduct as a result of substance abuse may have caused the person to contract the disease. Individuals who have HIV/AIDS, either due to their drug abuse or as a pre-existing condition prior to their drug use problem, often require treatment services tailored to meet their specific needs and problems. A few of these problems are physical in nature, because of the fact that drug users with HIV/AIDS rarely take care of themselves and take the appropriate medications they need to preserve their own health. Therefore, they arrive to rehab in very poor health and this will have to be addressed as a priority whilst addressing other critical concerns.
