Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehab client to take part in treatment services without the commitment one would normally have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab program. This doesn't always work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to address substantial substance abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient option, it isn't for everybody. Those who decide on an outpatient rehab will generally show up at meetings and be a part of counseling and rehabilitation services part-time each day or several days each week. This is often helpful for those who have just completed a much more complete inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with just a short history of drug use which is usually a very small amount of clients. For a person with more significant addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug rehab programs which offer treatment over a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial treatment choice.
