LGBT means lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are programs which address the unique needs of these clients. People who are LGBT can often feel alone, not understood, and seen as socially unwanted. This is often an extremely tough and painful way to live, and leads many LGBT individuals to a lifestyle of drug use to alleviate this pain. Someone that is LGBT might not feel relaxed inside a traditional rehab center amongst individuals who aren't experiencing the same problems they are experiencing within their lives. A LGBT rehab provides an environment which is free from judgment, where LGBT clients can be completely comfortable and safe divulging to their peers and rehabilitation counselors issues which have to be handled in order to get better. Rehabilitation counselors in a LGBT rehab will help clients fix relationships with their loved ones, in case their loved ones disagree with their sexual preference as is often the case. This situation is certainly a common trigger for drug use, and is also an example of something which could be handled in rehab. LGBT clients often only want to be accepted in their lives, and rehabilitation will help them accept themselves and build confidence in order to lead a wholesome life without any alcohol and drugs.
