TRICARE is health insurance that is provided to individuals in the military of the United States. Substance abuse inside the military is much more common than one would imagine, and the necessity to provide rehabilitation to these individuals is a priority. TRICARE covers numerous rehab services to cope with alcohol and drug dependence including detoxification services, as well as rehabilitation in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient facilities. Individuals with TRICARE will naturally be asked to obtain a prior approval before partaking in any kind of treatment service, which may be arranged with their regional TRICARE representative. If an inpatient program is the preferred rehabilitation choice, TRICARE covers a three week period or one inpatient stay in this program per benefit period which is every 365 days. There are certain limits as to just how long a TRICARE member can remain in an inpatient center that accepts TRICARE, then there is typically a 30-45 day window that is covered. TRICARE also covers family therapy which is often very beneficial, as it may help include family members in the healing and process of recovery. No member of the military should fight this battle alone, and there are professional rehabilitation counselors waiting to help today.
