Individuals who want to maintain some flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the treatment client to take part in rehab services without the commitment one would ordinarily have to consent to within an inpatient or residential drug treatment program. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to resolve substantial drug abuse issues. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient possibility, it isn't for everyone. Those that do decide on an outpatient rehab will generally attend meetings and take part in counseling and treatment services on a part-time basis daily or a few days weekly. This is helpful for many who have recently completed a much more extensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, and someone with only a brief history of drug use which is really a very small amount of clients. For someone with more significant addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug rehab facilities which provide treatment on a long-term basis will be the more advantageous rehabilitation option.
