Dual diagnosis rehabs are facilities which deliver rehab to handle both mental health and addiction concerns concurrently. Dual diagnosis is a very prevalent situation for individuals involved in drug and alcohol abuse, as those that have mental health problems frequently self medicate with drugs and alcohol to to feel some sort of temporary respite from their disorder. In a dual diagnosis rehab, rehab professionals can help individuals through a detailed rehab plan all directed at restoring and stabilizing mental, physical and emotional health as well as addressing substance abuse issues. Providing a safe and secure environment is key to ensure that dual diagnosis clients can feel relaxed and remain undistracted from circumstances which may cut across their program and development. Rehabilitation counselors will continue to work to identify environmental issues in the client's life including negative people in their lives or other things which need to be addressed in order for the individual to be mentally stable and sober t after they leave dual diagnosis rehab. Dual diagnosis clients also reap the benefits of behavioral rehab which helps them develop far better coping methods so they are better able to deal with life situations better after they depart dual diagnosis rehab as opposed to turning to drugs and alcohol as an inferior option.
