Individuals who would like to maintain some flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehab client to participate in treatment services without the commitment you might usually have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment facility. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to resolve significant drug abuse problems. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like an expedient possibility, it isn't for everybody. Those that do decide on an outpatient rehab will generally show up at meetings and be a part of counseling and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or several days a week. This is helpful for many who have recently completed a much more extensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with only a brief history of drug abuse which is usually a really small number of clients. For an individual with more significant drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers that provide rehab over a long-term basis will probably be the more advantageous treatment option.
