Individuals who would like to maintain a certain amount of flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehab client to participate in rehabilitation services without the commitment you might normally have to agree to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab center. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to resolve substantial drug abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune option, it isn't for everybody. People who do choose an outpatient rehab will typically take part in meetings and be a part of counseling and treatment services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or several days a week. This can be very helpful for those who have just completed an even more thorough inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, and someone with only a brief history of drug use which is really a really small percentage of clients. For somebody with more significant addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities which offer rehab over a long-term basis will probably be the more effective treatment option.
