A group home for someone who has been involved in alcohol and drug abuse is a facility which offers continuous support and assistance for those in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled youth, but there are also group homes for folks with a mental health disorder or who are experiencing behavioral problems for example. As an alternative to sending individuals who are experiencing drug abusedrug use or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar place, a group home can help provide an acceptable environment to help individuals sustain stability inside their lives and still have counsel and support within reach around the clock. People who reside within a group home could be taking part in rehabilitation services while in residence, or may be taking measures to get their life setup outside the group home to be able to at some time live independently not in the group home.
