Individuals who would like to maintain a lot of flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehabilitation client to take part in rehabilitation services with the same commitment one would ordinarily have to consent to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab center. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to address substantial substance abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune option, it isn't for everyone. People who choose an outpatient rehab will typically attend meetings and take part in therapy and rehab services on a part-time basis daily or several days each week. This is very helpful for those who have recently completed an even more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with only a short history of drug use which is really a really small number of clients. For an individual with more serious drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities which provide rehabilitation on a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial treatment option.
