LGBT stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are centers which address the unique needs of these clients. Individuals who are LGBT can feel alone, misunderstood, and seen as socially depraved. A LGBT facility provides an environment which can be free from judgment, where LGBT clients can feel completely safe and comfortable revealing to their peers and rehab counselors problems which must be handled to enable them to get well. Rehab counselors in a LGBT rehab will help clients mend relationships with their family, in the case their loved ones disagree with their sexual choice as is usually the case. This circumstance is an extremely common trigger for substance abuse, which is a good example of a thing that can be resolved in rehab. LGBT clients often only want to be accepted within their lives, and rehabilitation will help them accept themselves and build confidence to be able to lead a healthy life free from alcohol and drugs.
