Individuals who would like to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the treatment client to participate in treatment services with the same commitment one would ordinarily have to agree to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation facility. This doesn't always work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to solve substantial drug abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient option, it isn't for everyone. Those that do choose an outpatient rehab will usually attend meetings and be a part of therapy and rehab services part-time on a daily basis or several days weekly. This is often helpful for many who have recently completed a far more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, or someone with only a brief history of drug use which is usually a really small amount of clients. For somebody with more severe drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug treatment facilities which offer rehab on a long-term basis are going to be the more beneficial treatment option.
