TRICARE is health care insurance that's offered to people in the military of the United States. Drug abuse inside the military is much more common than one would imagine, and the need to offer treatment to these individuals is an important priority. TRICARE covers many different treatment services to deal with drug and alcohol dependence like detox services, as well as rehab in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient settings. Those that have TRICARE will obviously be asked to obtain a prior approval before partaking in any type of rehabilitation service, which may be arranged with their regional TRICARE representative. If an inpatient facility will be the preferred treatment option, TRICARE covers a 3 week period or one inpatient stay in this facility per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are specific limits concerning the length of time a TRICARE member can remain in the inpatient facility that accepts TRICARE, then there is typically a 30-45 day window that is covered. TRICARE also covers family therapy that may be very useful, as it may help include loved ones in the healing and process of recovery.
