A group home for anyone who has tbeen involved with alcohol and drug abuse is a facility which provides continuous support and assistance for folks in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled adolescents, but there are also group homes for folks with a mental health disorder or who are experiencing behavioral trouble for example. Instead of sending those who are experiencing drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or another similar place, a group home can help offer an acceptable environment to help individuals maintain stability in their lives and have counsel and support within reach around the clock. People who reside in the group home could be getting involved in treatment services whilst in residence, or could possibly be taking actions to get their life set up outside the group home in order to at some point live independently away from the group home. For example, a troubled youth who has been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or obtain employment. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent solution, but it's a practical short term option for individuals who are trying to get their lives back together again.
