Individuals who want to maintain some flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab whenever they need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the treatment client to participate in rehab services without the commitment one would ordinarily have to consent to within an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. This doesn't always work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to resolve significant substance abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient option, it isn't for everybody. People that do decide on an outpatient rehab will typically show up at meetings and take part in therapy and rehab services on a part-time basis every day or several days each week. This is very helpful for individuals who have recently completed a far more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, and someone with only a brief history of substance abuse which is really a really small percentage of clients. For an individual with more significant addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab facilities that provide rehab over a long-term basis will be the more beneficial rehab option.
