A group home for someone who has been involved in alcohol and drug abuse is a facility which provides continual support and help for individuals in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled youth, but in addition there are group homes for individuals with a mental health disorder or who are experiencing behavioral trouble for example. Instead of sending people who are experiencing substance abuse or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum and other similar facility, a group home may help provide an acceptable environment to help individuals maintain stability inside their lives and have counsel and support at their fingertips around the clock. People who reside in the group home could be taking part in rehabilitation services whilst in residence, or might be taking steps to get their life setup outside of the group home so that they can at some time live independently outside the group home. For instance, a troubled youth who has been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can work on getting their GED or acquire work. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent solution, yet it's a practical short-term option for many who want to get their lives back together.
