Dual diagnosis rehabs are programs which provide treatment to handle both addiction and mental health concerns at the same time. Rehabilitation counselors will continue to work to recognize environmental factors in the client's life such as negative people in their lives or other things that must be addressed in order for the individual to remain mentally stable and abstinen t after they leave dual diagnosis rehab. Dual diagnosis clients also benefit from behavioral treatment which helps them develop more effective coping mechanisms so they are able to better deal with life circumstances better when they leave dual diagnosis rehab instead of turning to drugs and alcohol as a possible answer.
