A group home for anyone who has been involved in alcohol and drug abuse is a place which provides continuous support and assistance for those in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled youth, but there's also group homes for those with a mental health disorder or who are encountering behavioral problems for example. As opposed to sending individuals who are experiencing substance abuse or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or any other similar facility, a group home will help provide an acceptable environment to help individuals maintain stability inside their lives and also have counsel and support at their fingertips 24/7. Residents in the group home may be involved in rehab services whilst in residence, or could be taking actions to get their life setup outside of the group home in order to at some time live independently not in the group home. As an example, a troubled youth who's been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or obtain work. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent option, but it is a feasible short term option for those who making the effort to get their lives back together again.
