Dual diagnosis rehabs are programs which provide treatment to deal with both addiction and mental health concerns simultaneously. Dual diagnosis is an extremely prevalent circumstance for folks involved in drug and alcohol abuse, as those that have mental health issues often self medicate with drugs and alcohol to experience some sort of temporary respite from their disorder. Rehabilitation counselors will continue to work to identify environmental issues in the client's life such as negative people in their lives or any other things that have to be addressed in order for the person to stay mentally healthy and sober t once they depart dual diagnosis rehab. Dual diagnosis clients also reap the benefits of behavioral rehabilitation that helps them develop more efficient coping mechanisms so they are better able to deal with life circumstances well once they leave dual diagnosis rehab instead of returning to drugs and alcohol as a possible option.
