A group home for a person who has tbeen involved with drug abuse is a facility which provides continuous support and assistance for folks in recovery. A group home is ordinarily for troubled adolescents, but there are also group homes for those with a mental health problem or who are experiencing behavioral trouble for example. As opposed to sending people who are struggling with substance abuse or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar facility, a group home may help offer an appropriate environment to help maintain stability in their lives and still have counsel and assistance within reach 24/7. People who reside within a group home may be getting involved in rehab services during residence, or may be taking actions to get their life set up outside of the group home to enable them to at some time live independently outside of the group home. For instance, a troubled youth who has been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can try to get their GED or obtain work. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent option, but it's a sensible short-term option for individuals who making the effort to get their lives back together.
