Dual diagnosis rehabs are programs which provide treatment to deal with both addiction and mental health concerns at the same time. Dual diagnosis is an extremely common circumstance for folks involved in drug abuse, as people who have mental health disorders frequently medicate themselves with drugs and alcohol to experience some form of temporary relief from their disorder. In a dual diagnosis rehab, rehab counselors will help men and women using a detailed rehab plan all aimed at restoring and stabilizing mental, emotional and physical health while addressing substance abuse issues. Offering a secure environment is key so that dual diagnosis clients can feel at ease and remain undistracted from circumstances which may compromise their treatment plan and advancement. Rehabilitation counselors will work to recognize environmental issues in the client's life including negative relationships or other things which must be addressed in order for the individual to be mentally healthy and sober t when they depart dual diagnosis rehab. Dual diagnosis clients also reap the benefits of behavioral rehab which helps them develop more effective coping mechanisms so they are able to better deal with life circumstances well if they leave dual diagnosis rehab as opposed to returning to drugs and alcohol as a possible answer.
