Medicare is a kind of health insurance developed by the U.S. government for older persons, along with people with certain disabilities and diseases. When someone who has Medicare needs treatment for cases of substance abuse, their rehab will either be covered in full by their Medicare health insurance or to a significant extent. The only real catch is, the person will need to receive treatment from the drug rehab facility which accepts Medicare. Before the individual will be permitted to begin rehabilitation, they will also have to see their primary care physician who must state that rehab services are medically necessary, and the physician will usually approve what type of rehab the person will take part in. Medicare Part An and Part B cover several types of treatment providers. Part A covers an inpatient stay in a Medicare accepted facility when the individual should be in a hospital for his or her problem, and the costs which they willwill have to pay for personally are the same as every other stay in a hospital. Medicare Part B will partially cover outpatient treatment in a Medicare accepted program, and the individual will need to cover whatever Medicare Part B doesn't pay for with supplement insurance coverage or they will have to self pay.
