A group home for a person who has tbeen involved with alcohol and drug abuse is a facility which provides continual support and help for those in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled adolescents, but there's also group homes for individuals with a mental health disorder or who are encountering behavioral trouble for example. Rather than sending individuals who are being affected by drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or any other similar facility, a group home can help provide an appropriate environment to help individuals sustain stability in their lives and also have counsel and support at their fingertips around the clock. Residents in a group home could be taking part in rehabilitation services while in residence, or may be taking steps to get their life setup outside the group home to enable them to at one point live on their own outside of the group home. For example, a troubled youth who's been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can try to get their GED or obtain work. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent option, but it is a feasible short term option for many who making the effort to get their lives back together.
