LGBT means lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are centers which address the unique needs of these clients. Those who are LGBT can feel alone, misunderstood, and considered socially depraved. This is often a very hard and painful existence, and leads many LGBT people to a lifestyle of drug abuse to numb this pain. Someone that is LGBT might not feel at ease inside a traditional rehab program amongst people who aren't experiencing the same challenges they are experiencing within their lives. A LGBT facility provides an environment which can be free of judgment, where LGBT clients can be totally safe and comfortable divulging to their peers and rehab counselors problems which must be resolved so that they can get better. Rehab counselors within a LGBT rehab can help clients repair relationships with their family, in case their family disagree with their sexual choice as is usually the case. This circumstance is certainly a frequent trigger for abusing drugs, and is a good example of an issue that would be resolved in rehab. LGBT clients often just want to be accepted within their lives, and treatment will help them accept themselves and produce confidence in order to lead a wholesome life free from alcohol and drugs.
