LGBT represents lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are facilities which address the unique needs of these clients. Those who are LGBT can often feel alone, not understood, and considered socially unwanted. This is sometimes a very difficult and painful existence, and leads many LGBT individuals to a life of substance abuse to alleviate these feelings. Someone who is LGBT might not exactly feel relaxed inside a conventional treatment program amongst folks who aren't experiencing the same problems they may be experiencing in their lives. A LGBT center provides an environment which is free of judgment, where LGBT clients can feel totally safe and comfortable revealing to their peers and rehab counselors problems which should be handled in order to recover. Rehabilitation counselors in the LGBT rehab will help clients mend relationships with their loved ones, in case their family disagree with their sexual choice as is generally the case. This situation is certainly a common trigger for drug use, which is a good example of an issue that will be handled in treatment. LGBT clients often just want to be accepted in their lives, and rehab will help them accept themselves and build confidence to be able to lead a wholesome life free from alcohol and drugs.
