TRICARE is medical health insurance that's offered to members of the armed forces of the United States. Substance abuse within the military is much more common than one would assume, and the need to offer rehab to these individuals is a vital priority. TRICARE covers many different rehab services to address alcohol and drug dependence like detox services, in addition to rehabilitation in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient programs. Individuals with TRICARE will naturally be asked to get a prior authorization before partaking in any type of rehab service, that may be arranged using their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient facility will be the preferred rehab option, TRICARE covers twenty-one days or one inpatient stay in this program per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are certain limits as to how long a TRICARE member can stay in the inpatient program that accepts TRICARE, then there is typically a 30-45 day window which is covered. TRICARE also covers family counselling that may be very useful, as it could help include family members in the healing and process of recovery.
