A group home for anyone who has tbeen involved with alcohol and drug abuse is a facility which offers continual support and assistance for those in recovery. A group home is ordinarily for troubled adolescents, but in addition there are group homes for individuals with a mental health disorder or who are encountering behavioral problems for example. As opposed to sending people who are being affected by substance abuse or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or any other similar place, a group home may help offer an acceptable environment to help sustain stability in their lives and still have counsel and support within reach around the clock. Residents within a group home could be taking part in rehab services during residence, or could be taking measures to get their life set up outside of the group home so that they can at some time live independently away from the group home. By way of example, a troubled youth who may have been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can work on getting their GED or obtain work. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent solution, but it is a feasible temporary option for many who are attempting to get their lives back together again.
