Dual diagnosis rehabs are programs which provide rehab to handle both addiction and mental health concerns at the same time. Dual diagnosis is a very prevalent situation for those involved with substance abuse, as individuals with mental health disorders often medicate themselves with drugs and alcohol to to feel some sort of temporary respite from their disorder. In a dual diagnosis rehab, treatment counselors can help people through a comprehensive rehab plan all targeted at restoring and stabilizing mental, physical and emotional health whilst dealing with drug abuse concerns. Providing a safe environment is key so that dual diagnosis clients can feel relaxed and remain free from distraction from things which could cut across their program and development. Rehab counselors will continue to work to identify environmental factors in the client's life including negative people in their lives or any other things which must be addressed in order for the individual to remain mentally stable and abstinen t once they depart dual diagnosis rehab. Dual diagnosis clients also benefit from behavioral rehabilitation which helps them develop far better coping mechanisms so that they are able to better handle life circumstances more proficiently if they leave dual diagnosis rehab instead of turning to drugs as an inferior answer.
