Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab when they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehabilitation client to take part in treatment services without the commitment one would normally have to consent to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation program. This doesn't always work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to solve substantial substance abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be a convenient option, it isn't for everybody. Those that do decide on an outpatient rehab will typically show up at meetings and take part in therapy and rehab services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or several days weekly. This is often helpful for those who have just completed a more thorough inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or someone with just a brief history of drug abuse which is really a very small amount of clients. For somebody with more significant addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment programs which provide rehab over a long-term basis will be the more beneficial rehabilitation alternative.
