Individuals who want to maintain a lot of flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the treatment client to participate in rehab services with the same commitment you might ordinarily have to agree to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation program. This doesn't always work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to resolve significant drug abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient possibility, it isn't for everyone. People that do decide on an outpatient rehab will usually attend meetings and take part in counseling and treatment services part-time daily or a few days each week. This is helpful for those who have recently completed a far more extensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with only a short history of drug use which is really a really small percentage of clients. For an individual with more serious drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities which provide rehab on a long-term basis will be the more effective rehab choice.
